About Ubuntu Linux
Ubuntu Linux is an Operating System created by Mark Shuttleworth in 2004. The first release was called Ubuntu 4.10 (Warty Warthog). Ubuntu releases are named using the year & month of release date (such as 4.10 for October 2004 or 10.04 for April 2010) and are code named with an Adjective and an animal (such as  Lucid Lynx).

Ubuntu is a Debian-based Linux distribution that uses Debian packages for installing software and GNOME as a desktop environment. If you would like to try Ubuntu, you can download a CD image from here.
